Around Saigon. I like just walking around town, seeing things, meeting people, and watching the world go by. |

City Hall Here is city hall. On the left is the Rex Hotel. This looks much as it did in 1968. It probably looks much as it did in 1928. The only diference would be the statue of Ho Chi Minh in the park and the HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation) Tower in the back ground. |

The Gate This is the gate in front of Reunification Hall, which used to be the Presidential Palace. You may remember this gate from the fall of Saigon. The tank was comming through the gate to the left. |

The Scale Here is something that would probably not work in the US. Two people came into the market with a scale. For a small fee you can get weighed and the Large Led display will tell everyone in the market how much you weigh. There is a speaker that plays an annoying tune that lets everyone know when someone is being weighed. |

Smiling Lady This lady works at the snack stand in the market across Le Loi street from the Rex Hotel. |

Internet The man and woman who operate the internet access place that was only a few blocks from my hotel. |

Lady in the Square I would pass this woman in the Square in front of Ben Thanh almost every morning and afternoon. |

Ben Thanh Meat There is no refrigeration in the market. Everything is so clean that the smell is wonderful. |

Ben Thanh Food This is only a part of the food court in the market. Dishes of every sort are cooking at once. The fragrence is delightful. |

Ben Thanh Cloth There are many, many booths in Ben Thanh Market. Most are this size. To save space the ladies usually sit up among their goods. |

Delivery Carts Here is a popular vehicle. Some are powered by peddling and some by a motorcycle engine. |

The Car When I first arrived in Saigon I went to Le Loi and Nguyen Hue. On my way I saw this car in a garage. It was a bucket of rust and had no doors or windows. Three weeks later I saw it like this with the doors on, windshield in and the body work at this point. The pink is body putty. I would not be surprised if this car was on the road by now. |

Wrought Iron The men have all their tools and supplies in a small place in the alley. During the day it all comes out and they make some nice wrought Iron ware right on the sidewalk. |
