MACV Headquarters Hue
A number of people asked me to look up specific places while in Vietnam. It was a lot of fun, like a treasure hunt. I got to see some things that I might not have seen otherwise and also made some connections with the past and some other people. In Hue it was Andreas who asked me if I could take a few photos of the building that was once the Headquarters of MACV in Hue. Thanks to a map and photo on the web site of Tom Pilsch I was able to find it and photo it.


These buildings are now being used by the police and public buildings are not to be photographed. To get this photo I went into the restaurant in front of the building and stepped out the back door, took the photo and went back into the restaurant.

This is a photo taken by Tom Pilsch, who was a Forward Air Controler(FAC), in 1968. I think he and I both stood within yards of the same position 38 years apart. Connections like this are some of the most fascinating things I find in Vietnam. Also fascinating is that I did not have his photo in Hue when I took my photo. I guess you could call my photo a target of opportunity.
